Today is it, 49 years old..... That's a big number!!! No more jokes about AARP, its a damn reality. Sign me up!!!
As I transition to the big “49, honestly, I have a lot to be thankful for. For starters, my liver is lesion free, the need for a seeing eye dog is still a few years off, and last I checked, I could easily slid into a size 7 Gap Curvy jeans!!!
But, I’ll be the first to admit, youth has its privileges. It also has its disadvantages. (when I think of some I’ll let you know…Memory ain’t what it use to be)
Since I’ve been on both sides of the fence-quite naturally, I’ve got a bit more insight. So, aside from the obvious- menopause, hot flashes, depletion of natural vaginal lubricants, thinning hair, bra hangover—yada, yada , yada…“Growing older, ain’t so bad “
On a more serious note, age is transforming--surprisingly comforting, definitely intriguing, but most importantly I’ve gained insight into this woman that I always thought I was suppose to be.
The beauty of life is that at 49, I can reinvent myself to what ever the hell I choose, I don’t have to accept what society dictates about my age group or my woman hood, the only limitations I have are the one’s I create for myself. So, with that said, I say “Yeah, 49!!!!!!”
