Angee,
If the writers had written Angie in character and written
a better story, minus the lies(which is out of character
and just STUPID,imo.)Angie would've taken a leave of ab-
sence,after finding out,from the specialist,that she was
going to go blind, due to her infection. If Angie, then
wanted to come back, and David was not willing to accomo-
date her disability, she would've,absolutely, had just cause
and legal recourse to sue him for violating her rights.
That's what I mean by she could sue him.
And as far as saying the story would be boring,no it
wouldn't. If Angie were to get infected, become blind,
get help,be frustrated as a result of having to deal with
a new reality mid-life,sue David for violating her rights,
after trying to go back to work, win the lawsuit and ,
then going back to work, triumphant, that,to me,is a good
story. I would not regard that as boring. Seldom do I
say a story is boring. If I feel that way,I turn off the
show and do something else. But seldom do I come on MBs
and complain that a soap is boring. Plus,I don't happen
to find it the slightest bit interesting and engaging,to
see Angela sacrifice both her personal and professional
integrity. Having Angie,stubbornly,treat patients,know-
ing that she could have a blind episode at any minute, was
NOT exciting. It was frustrating. And as a person with
a disability myself,I found it insulting for the writers
to make Angie look incompetent, while treating Ryan, and not
be able to fully do her job to the best of her ability.Angry
She shouldn't have been working,at that time,in the first
place.Angry
The current HWs were willing to sacrifice Angie's integ-
rity all for the sake of their lame idea of drama.
The writers had an opportunity to make a powerful state-
ment about what it's like to acquire a disability, midlife,
and that money shouldn't come before people's lives and
their health, and, imo, they blew it. Sure, the writers still
could make those statements, but too many viewers are put
off by both Angie and the writers and just want this story
to be over.Angry As a PWD,I'm offended by that, because it
didn't have to be that way. The writers thought all
that crap was dramatic, and as a dramatic writer, myself,I
couldn't disagree more.Angry (DM's brilliant acting,not-
withstanding.Smile )JMHO.Worried

I actually have enjoyed the storyline. I think Andi said it beautifully. I think that watching the process of Angie come to acceptance is what is intriguing. She still didn't want other people to know, I think for fear of them treating her as if she were an invalid or somehow different or incapable (because people do tend to feel sorry with those living with disabilities although there is no need for that) because of the blindness. People feeling sorry for her as if her life would then become insignificant would have been more insulting to me. Had gone that route THAT would have robbed her of her dignity/integrity. She has wonderfully gone thru the stages of grief (Kubler-Ross explains that nicely if you haven't ever read it give a whirl) which does not just come with people dying) she is losing something that she has always had. I believe this is the best storyline they have had since they after the wedding as well. Not to say accept anything but I feel as though the "drama" in the story was not over the top but typically David and the Hubbs which is what it should be. I used to tell my high school boys its not all about the "right" answer, I need to see HOW you got to it, so its about the journey and I think its something we can all relate to, we often know the answer to what we should do, but we all do not take the same route to get there.
